Jeopardy's Alex Trebek to Join Adventure Canada in the Arctic
Adventure Canada announces international TV personality Alex Trebek as a special guest aboard its 2015 Arctic Explorer expedition. The Jeopardy! host joins the 12-day adventure as it traces the route of great Arctic explorers, traveling from Quassuittuq (Resolute), Nunavut and down the eastern shores of Greenland. This is Trebek's first trip to the Arctic, and his first trip with Adventure Canada.

"I've just finished reading John Geiger and Owen Beattie's book on the Franklin expedition, Frozen in Time, and I'm looking forward to retracing some of their steps this summer,” says Trebek about his upcoming trip with Adventure Canada. “I'm also looking for additional ammunition that I will use to confront global warming doubters."

Trebek's affiliation with the Royal Canadian Geographic Society (RCGS) has demonstrated his generous commitment to geography, environmental conservation and education. Among his many accomplishments, Trebek has hosted the annual Canadian Geographic Challenge and the National Geographic Bee. A winner of the prestigious RCGS Gold Medal for his contribution to geographic education and the popular study of geography, the Sudbury-born Trebek is also a noted philanthropist and conservationist.

The 2015 Arctic Explorer expedition features the world's most wild and untamed environments. Beginning at the mouth of the Northwest Passage, travelers first visit the final resting place of the ill-fated Franklin Expedition at Beechey Island. The voyage features excellent birdwatching on Prince Leopold Island, and opportunities to see wild polar bears, musk ox, walrus, and whales. At Mittimatalik (Pond Inlet), community hosts welcome Adventure Canada guests with throat singing and Inuit games, before embarking on an exploration of Baffin Island's mighty fiords. Crossing the Davis Strait, guests encounter Greenland's stirring landscape of glaciers, icebergs, and rolling mountains.

Sailing aboard the Ocean Endeavour, Trebek and fellow passengers will travel with Adventure Canada's leading Resource Staff and expedition guides, including geologist Peter Croal, culturalist Kathleen Merritt, artist Andrew Qappik, and naturalist Stephen Smith.
