Inspiring Women Hotel Managers of Banyan Tree: Empowering Change Across the Globe
Co-founded by pioneering business woman Claire Chiang, Banyan Tree is home to three passionate female Hotel Managers, each a shining example of talented women across the hospitality industry worldwide. Nopparat Aumpa, Petra Trapp and Tashi Yangzom thrive to inspire change, empower their staff and support their local community. Each plays an instrumental role in Banyan Tree's efforts to push boundaries to deliver outstanding, innovative experiences.

Nopparat Aumpa is currently the General Manager at Banyan Tree Bangkok (pictured above), however her history with Banyan Tree spans 18 years. Starting her career as an Assistant Manager in the front office at The Westin Banyan Tree Hotel in Bangkok, Ms. Aumpa has been repeatedly recognized for excellence, winning the Thurston-Dupar Inspirational Award in 1996 and the Service of Legend award the following year for her ability to go above and beyond, emphasizing her deep commitment to service and inspiring those around her. In July 2005, she once again demonstrated her leadership skills as part of the opening team launching Banyan Tree Ringha in China, and later Banyan Tree Mayakoba, among others. A true ambassador of Banyan Tree ideals, Ms. Aumpa believes that each property is like a woman; unique and stylish with a personality all their own.

Petra Trapp, the Manager of Angsana Riad Collection Morocco, did not always know that hospitality was her calling. Originally dedicating herself to work with the handicapped in her native Germany, Ms. Trapp found her second passion in tourism during a sabbatical trip to Rome. 15 years of hard work and perseverance later, Ms. Trapp is proud of her current role where she feels a responsibility to inspire other women. Fluent in five languages, she relishes the opportunity to meet guests from all over the globe, while her quiet efficiency and personable attitude make for the warmest of welcomes.

Tashi Yangzom, the Hotel Manager at Banyan Tree Ringha, has spent a great deal of time in her stunning Tibetan-inspired resort. Previously the resort's Tour and Trek Manager and later the Tour and Human Resources Manager, Ms. Yangzom has worked at the property for 15 years. Originally from Shimla, India, she speaks four languages and is an avid reader who loves to discover new places and meet new people. Her patience, calmness and quiet confidence are the ideal complement to a resort such as Banyan Tree Ringha, a retreat high in the Shangri-La mountains, offering a unique escape from the demands of modern living.

In addition to its commitment to support local communities, Banyan Tree continues to develop programs to inspire women in the workplace. Claire Chiang's successful, worldwide Banyan Tree Gallery initiative gives local artisans the opportunity to showcase their craftsmanship through the promotion of beautiful, exclusive handicrafts, ensuring a steady source of income and sense of personal pride. Additional corporate social responsibility initiatives at Banyan Tree create green awareness and promote cultural heritage to enhance the environment and local communities in each destination.
